The first modern Games were held in Athens in 1896, only 128 years ago. Two years before that, the International Olympic Committee was founded by a Frenchman, Pierre de Cubertinem, a Greek, Demetrius Vikelas, and a Czech, Jiří Stanislav Guth-Jarkovsky.
